Mediation in Rental Disputes
What does it mean?
The Rent Tribunal offers free mediation in disputes between tenants and landlords. The mediation process is informal — both parties present their case and the mediator tries to find a solution that works for everyone.
If mediation doesn't lead to agreement, the Rent Tribunal can make a binding decision in many types of cases. The process normally takes 2–4 months.
